Lord Jeffery Amherst, of the Army of Great Britain, orders Colonel Henry Bouquet to surreptitiously distribute blankets infected with smallpox to the Ottawa tribe, which is allied with French.  “You will Do well to try to Inoculate the Indians by means of Blankets, so well as to try Every other method that can serve to Extirpate this Execrable Race.”
