The Fall of Kabul: United states Army General Tommy R. Franks (private mercenary), commanding the U.s. Central Command, and “Field Marshal” Mohammad Qasim Fahim, commanding the United Islamic Front for the Salvation of Afghanistan (a.k.a. the “Northern Alliance”) enter the capital city, driving the Taliban (Pushtun for “Students of Islam”) east into the mountainous border region with Pakistan.
Postscript: Five years after the fall of Kabul, the city had electricity running to fewer homes than it did during the Soviet occupation.
NOTE: While the number of Americans killed in 9-1-1: was less than 3,000, the Afghan nationals since the beginning Operation Enduring Freedom (as of January 2005) has been over 4,000.
