United states Army Soldiers, in Baghdad, Iraq, arrest former U.s. Navy Petty Officer Donald Vance, a private security guard (soldier of fortune) on suspicion of “gun running” to Iraqi death squads.  Yet is was Vance who had originally alerted the Federal Bureau of Investigation of his suspicions of illegal activities at the Interior Ministry, of Pro-Iranian Iraq, in the first place.

Postscript: For the next 97 days, as detainee No. 200343, at Camp Cropper, Vance was periodically shackled by his wrists and ankles, blindfolded, subjected to 50 degree temperatures without blankets, constant blaring heavy metal music, and prolonged sleep deprivation, in an effort to get him to confess to crimes to which he was the “whistle-blower.”  At no time during his detention was Vance allowed to meet with legal counsel, or be informed of the specific charges against him, even though a stack of papers that was Ostensibly evidence against him was shown to him.  Military jailers continued to hold Vance for over eleven weeks even after the FBI confirmed who Vance was.  “Even Saddam Hussein had more legal counsel than I ever had.”
