A United states Army court-martial, Fort Carson, colorado, hands down United states v. Welshofer, acquitting Chief Warrant Officer-3 Lewis E. Welshofer, Jr. (private mercenary), of murder in the interrogation death of former Major General Abed Hamed Mowhosuh, a suspected leader of the Iraqi insurgency. During the interrogation, Welshofer ordered Mowhosuh placed in a sleeping bag, sat on Mowhosuh’s chest, and covered his mouth to him the detainee silent.
