Central Intelligence agents kidnap Abu Omar (a.k.a. Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr), off the streets of Milan, Italy.  The CIA flies Omar to Egypt, where he fled from a decade previous for fear of political persecution.

Postscript: For the next 14 months Omar was kept naked, handcuffed and blindfolded, and was tortured with temperature extremes, electric shocks, beaten, raped and tied to a cross (crucified), for refusing to report on the activities at his mosque.  It was only when the CIA concluded Omar was not a terrorist and was he freed—on the condition that he not tell anyone what had happened.
