While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are stationed at 737 bases, in 130 nations around the world, defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” the Federal court for the eastern district of virginia hands down United states v. Lindh: judge Thomas S. Ellis, III, sentences Abu Sulayman al-Irlandi (a.k.a. John Walker Lindh) to 20 years in prison for being a member of the Taliban (Pashtun for “students of Islam”). Al-Irlandi joined the Taliban before 9-1-1 (9/11/2001), and never took up arms against the U.s.
NOTE: Al-Irlandi had been tortured (through denial of medical care for a week after a bullet wound to his thigh) and then interrogated under the influence of morphine.
