The supreme court, of the corporate United states, decides Byrd v. United states, prohibiting statute enforcement officers from searching rental automobiles and trucks, being operated by “drivers” (a legal term for a “traveler” transporting goods, services or persons in commerce) who, while their name does not appear on the rental agreement, still have permission to operate the conveyance.
