While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are stationed at 737 bases, in 130 nations around the world, defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” the Federal court for the northern district of illinois hands down Obrycka v. Chicago (illinois), awarding Karolina Obrycka 850,000 “dollars” for the beating she suffered at the hands of Anthony Abbate, Jr., a drunk off-duty statute enforcement officer.
NOTES:
- This award came not out of the property and pension of Abbate, but out of the lawful taxes paid by city residents, who did not do this.
- At the criminal trial, Abbate received a sentence two years probation for the assault. Had a civilian committed this crime the consequences would undoubtedly been several years in prison.
