Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Director of the International Monetary Fund, speaking at the Institute for New Economic Thinking, in Cambridge, England, says, “[F]or the next decade or two, cyclical upswings should be used to reduce public debt, rather than finance … tax cuts.”

       NOTE: This is the attitude that is typical of those elitist parasites that feed off the labors of the working classes: That giving WE THE PEOPLE’s money back to them somehow has to be paid for as any other expense.

       A (Tupolev) Tu-154 airliner leaving Smolensk, Russia, crashes shortly after take-off killing President Lech Kaczynski, of Poland and his wife Maria; along with the Kaczynskis were Slawomir Skrzypek, President of the National Bank of Poland; and General Franciszek, Chief of Staff of the Army of Poland.

       NOTE: Just 12 days before, Skrzypek had declined further loans from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund stating that he “convinced that the situation of the Polish economy and the financial system are currently good enough that the country, instead of being among those using the IMF support, may join a group helping other countries through the IMF.”  Poland was the only member nation of the European Union that had not yet seen a contraction of its economy during the Greatest Depression.
