While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are stationed at 737 bases, in 130 nations around the world, defending “all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world,” judge Marcia G. Cooke, of the Federal court for the southern district of florida, presiding in the case of United states v. Padilla, rules that the Article VI of Amendment guarantee of a speedy trial does not apply to U.s. subject/enemy/citizens who are incarcerated by the Department of Defense; as the military judiciary is not a component of the Federal judiciary.

NOTE: The Uniform Code of Military Justice, Article 62 requires the accused be granted a “speedy trial.”
