The fifth circuit court of appeals hands down United states v. Emerson: Article II of Amendment “protects the rights of individuals, including those not then actually a member of any militia … to privately possess and bear their own firearms … suitable as personal individual weapons.”

The United states Air Force (private mercenaries) bombs the Kabul, Afghanistan headquarters of the International Red Cross.
Postscript: Ten days later, after assurances to the IRC that such incidents would not be repeated, the U.s. Air Force bombed the clearly marked IRC warehouses destroying tons of food, blankets, medicine, et cetera, intended for 55,000 refugees.
