The Revolutions of 1989 continue: Erich E.P. Honaker, dictator the communist Democratic Republic of (East) Germany, for the previous 28-years, resigns over ever-increasing popular resistance to his authoritarian rule.  Honaker is succeeded by Egon Krenz, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.
