The Federal court for the district of delaware hands down United states v. Viera, sentencing Luis Viera to life in prison WITHOUT possibility of parole—PLUS five years of supervised release—for conspiracy to distribute five kilograms of cocaine. Two months before Viera had entered into a please bargain in state court and was sentenced to 15 years for possession of those same five kilograms of cocaine.
NOTE: This is Double Jeopardy, which is prohibited by Article V of Amendment.
