Woe unto you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge.

—- Luke 11:52

While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are in Vietnam, “united in … determination to take all necessary measures in support of freedom,” the District of Columbia circuit court of appeals hands down United states v. Dougherty, acknowledging the lawful tradition of Jury Nullification (The act of a fully informed Jury, empowered through self-knowledge, to judge the decrees and the evidence in question).  However, the jury need not be told of this power.

judge (sic) David L. Bazelon files a concurring opinion: “Trust in the jury is, after all, one of the cornerstones of our entire criminal jurisprudence, and if that trust is without foundation we must re-examine a great deal more than just the nullification doctrine.”
