D-DAY: General Dwight D. Eisenhower, of the army of the United states, Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, lands a force 156,000 on the Normandy coast of German-occupied France.

       NOTE: D-Day did not win the war in Europe.  That had already been done by the Soviet Union at the Battles of Stalingrad and Kursk.  What D-Day did accomplish was to prevent western Europe from falling under communist influence.
