The fifth circuit court of appeals hands down Powe v. United states, invalidating—via the Guarantee Clause (Article IV, Section 4) and the fraudulent 14th amendment—an alabama statute restricting the Freedoms of Press and Speech, totally ignoring the clauses protecting those freedoms in alabama’s constitution.

       NOTE: Also in the court’s decision was an authorization to CONgress to override state statutes that restrict these freedoms.
