The Battle of Anacostia Flats (District of Columbia): Under orders from Commander-in-Chief Hoover, General Douglas McArthur, chief of staff of the army of the United states, sends in tanks, infantry and cavalry, dispersing the Bonus Expeditionary Force.  The BEF was composed of 17,000 unemployed veterans of the Great War (World War I) who were demanding immediate payment of their bonuses that were promised to be paid 13 years hence.  Two veterans, William Hushka and Eric Carlson, are killed as a result of the violence.
