Democratic (socialist/fascist) President Wilson (having received an unlawful advantage of 50 ineligible Electoral votes)—without a constitutional amendment—signs the Esch-Cummins Transportation Act, ostensibly returning the nation’s railroads to private control.  Although the act grants the Interstate Commerce Commission the power to set minimum shipping rates, and creates the Railroad Labor Board to dictate wages paid railroad workers and impose settlements in labor disputes.  It also authorizes the Interstate Commerce Commission to promote railroad mergers, something that would have been prosecuted under Federal anti-trust statutes if done privately.
