Lorrin A. Thurston, a grandson of American missionaries, commanding the Honolulu Rifles Militia, with the support of Marines from the USS Boston, overthrows Queen Liliuokalani, of Hawaii, establishing Hawaii as a republic.  De jure Queen Liliuokalani, of the former Kingdom of Hawaii, issues a proclamation of acquiescence, protesting the overthrow of her government by the Navy of the United states, but seeking to avert a bloody war of restoration:

I, Liliuokalani, by the Grace of God and under the Constitution of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Queen, do hereby solemnly protest against any and all acts done against myself and the Constitutional Government of the Hawaiian Kingdom by certain persons claiming to have established a Provisional Government of and for this Kingdom.

That I yield to the superior force of the United [s]tates of America whose Minister Plenipotentiary, His Excellency John L. Stevens, has caused United [s]tates troops to be landed at Honolulu and declared that he would support the Provisional Government.

Now to avoid any collision of armed forces, and perhaps the loss of life, I do this under protest and impelled by said force yield my authority until such time as the Government of the United [s]tates shall, upon facts being presented to it, undo the action of its representatives and reinstate me in the authority which I claim as the Constitutional Sovereign of the Hawaiian Islands.

NOTE: Liliuokalani was hopeful that with the upcoming replacement of Republican (nationalist) de facto President Benjamin Harrison (having received an unlawful advantage of 20 ineligible and 51 stolen Electoral votes) with former Democratic (constitutionalist) President Grover Cleveland, in less than one and a half months, the status quo might be restored without bloodshed.
