Republican (nationalist) President Abraham Lincoln, of the united States, authorizes a 250,000 Dollar contract with Bernard Koch, a Florida cotton planter, to deport 5,000 freedmen to Haiti.
Postscript: This attempt at coerced colonialization failed as Koch pilfered the funds.
