William Walker, along with 34 of his remaining mercenaries, suffering from logistical and military setbacks, surrenders to Colonel Henry S. Burton, military commander of San Diego, California.
NOTE: Walker and his soldiers of fortune were taken north to San Francisco, where they were charged with violation of the Neutrality Act of 1794.
