Democratic (constitutionalist) President Jackson signs the (protective) Tariff Act of 1832, reducing tariffs on most imported good from between 22 to 33%.

NOTE: The reduction did not placate the southern, agricultural States, which were paying most of the tariff, but instead lead to greater agitation for further tariff reductions.  The net effect was to load heavy equipment, plant duties on the South while at the same time significantly depleting Southern exports.
