Laura Secord, the 38 year-old wife of a wounded Canadian Militiaman-farmer, travels 19 miles, on foot, in six hours, during the dead of night to warn Lieutenant James FitzGibbon, of the impending American attack on Beaver Dams, Ontario.  The Secord’s farmhouse had been commandeered as headquarters by Colonel Charles G. Boerstler, commanding a regiment of the Army of the united States.  Secord overheard a discussion of the impending attack.

NOTE: History remembers Secord as the “Canadian Paul Revere.”
