Vizir (minister of state) Hassan Bashaw, the Dey of Algiers, and Joseph Donaldson, Jr. Ambassador to Algiers, sign a Treaty with Algeria, agreeing to the payment of 1,000,000 Dollars as ransom for 115 Sailors captured by the Barbary pirates, and to resume yearly tribute payments.
