Commander-in-Chief Washington, commanding the Militias of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, (Citizen-volunteers), (with Alexander Hamilton, Secretary of the Treasury, as his adjutant) proceeds into the Commonwealth’s western counties to crush the Whiskey Rebellion.

NOTE: The resistance to the Whiskey Tax was not confined to western Pennsylvania; all areas subject to the tax resisted it.  The reason why Washington chose Pennsylvania is because there were many people in the area who were willing to collect the tax.
