Admiral Francois-Joseph Paul comte de Grasse, commanding a fleet of 28 vessels of the Navy of France, moves into Chesapeake Bay, threatening Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis’ resupply by sea. 

       Postscript: The following day, de Grasse landed 3,000 French reinforcements against Cornwallis.
