The Battle of Oudenaarde (Spanish Netherlands (Belgium)): John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, commanding the Armies of the Grand Alliance, defeats the Army of France, commanded by Louis, Dauphin (Crown Prince) of France. The French suffer about 11 thousand casualties compared to only four-thousand for the allies.
