       The Schenectady Massacre: During the War of the League of Augsburg, French soldiers and Iroquois warriors raid Schenectady, New York, killing 60 colonists, including 10 women and at least 12 children.

       These casualty figures seem tiny in comparison to the carnage most of us living today can see on the evening news, but these numbers represented huge percentages of the then current population of Europeans on the North American land mass. –– JL
