Charles I (a Presbyterian, r. 1625 – 1649) enters the elective House of Commons—the only English sovereign ever to have done so—and demands the arrests of Members John Pym, John Hampden, Arthur Haselrig, Denzil Holles and William Strode (all Puritans), for having presented the king with the Grand Remonstrance which calls attention to his violations of the Magna Carta and the Petition of Right.

Postscript: This turned his subjects against him, and Charles was forced to flee London.
