William Tyndale is executed by strangling, near Vilvoorde, in the Holy Roman, for translating the New Testament from Latin into English.  Tyndale had been forced to flee his native England because Henry VIII (a Catholic, until 1534; an Anglican afterward; r. 1509 – 1547) ordered Tyndale arrested.
