The Wars of the Roses continue: John Neville, Earl of Warwick, frees Henry VI (r. 1422 – 1461; 1470 – 1471) from the Tower of London, places the crown on Henry’s head, thus reinstalling him as king. Edward IV (r. 1461 – 1470; 1471 – 1483), narrowly escapes with his life fleeing to West Flanders (Belgium).
